Palestinian Food Industries Association Sector Profile

With the aim of serving the needs of aspiration of the Palestinian Food Sector, a group of food producers founded PFIA in 1995 with offices in Ramallah and Gaza strip to insure the maximum realization of its objectives and effective implementation of corresponding programs and services.

Our Vision is,

To create competitive food industry that fulfills the national, social and health safety requirements.

Our Mission is,

To develop and recognize the Palestinian food industries, which will be achieved through:

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:  

  • Developing member's capabilities in the administrative and technical fields, and developing the technical an productive capabilities ( Members Capabilities enhancement)
  • Developing PFIA fundraising methods and techniques and facilitating acquiring the needed funds (Financial).
  • Representing the food industry sector and defending their interests in front of the domestic and international parties ( Advocacy and Policy Dialogue)
  • Expand market share domestically and internationally ( Marketing)

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

  • Upgrading the Palestinian food sectors and develops it to meet the rising needs of the Palestinian consumer.
  • Ensure the flow of expertise, training and technical assistance to members.
  • Discovering source of expertise, raw materials, and modern technology and facilitate its transmit ion to members, to raise the food sector contribution in Palestinian economy.
  • Representing the interests of the food sector in Palestine in a manner that lead to building a food industry with competitive capabilities.
  • Opening channels and establishes full cooperation and coordination with the private and public sectors with the aim of regulating the food industry in Palestine through a common vision and strategy.
  • Opening new markets domestic, regional and international.

  • Organize workshops and seminars to develop member's expertise and skills.
  • Promote modern quality, production standards and specification to comply factories with local and international standards.
  • Provide consultation services in the field of legislation and production technologies
  • Enhance capabilities and skills of the technical staff of the factories.
  • Organize specialized commercial and technical exhibitions.
  • Organizing and sponsoring Palestine food day
  • Communication and coordination with all parties in relation with food sector
  • Communication with international food industries firms
  • Issuing scientific periodicals related to food industry.

Importance of Palestinian food sector and its influence in Palestinian economy:

Food industry represents 20% of Palestinian industry in total.
Average of Palestinian families income spend in food is 45-50% .
Palestinian food industry employs more than 12,000 with total capacity of more $350 million USD
PFIA has 110 registered members from all food the 10 food industry sectors, including 25 olive presses under the Palestinian Olive oil Council .
